PURPOSE:To greatly facilitate the assembling operation of a heat exchanger as well as to raise the heat exchanging efficiency of the heat exchanger by a method in which unit heat exchange elements made of thin metal plates are spirally arranged in parallel and housed in a fixed volume. CONSTITUTION:A set of two metal thin plates is used or a metal thin plate bent into two pieces is used in heat exchange elements 6 and 6', and an entrance pipe 12 for a fluid is thrust through lapped or bent portion of two metal thin plates to make up an element header. The sides of the pipe and the upper and lower portions and side portions of the two-folded very thin plate are welded to form a heat exchange element. An entrance 16 through which a fluid is passed from the element header 7 to the inside of the heat exchange element of very thin metal plates is also provided, and the heat exchange element of two- folded very thin metal plates, having various patterns, is spirally rolled in such a way as to make it contact with the central pressure-resistant pipe 4 inside of the outside body plate 3. The cooling area is thus increased and little resistance is offered to fluid flowing in the heat exchange element because of the presence of various patterns on the surface of the very thin metal plates. |
