An electric motor has a means serving to prevent rotation with reference to the encircling frame (1) of the cylindrical stator stack in which the plates (6) have been bound together by an aluminium shell (7) cast thereupon. The means comprises an axial projection (8) on the shell which as the stator stack is being pushed in place enters an axial groove (9) in the frame (1) to prevent rotation. <IMAGE>
