PURPOSE:To form an engine in a small compact size, by sufficiently ensuring length and sectional area of each branch pipe of an intake manifold so as to both improve an output of the engine and contain the intake manifold compactly between both left and right banks. CONSTITUTION:Each of branch pipes 10..., 10'... is extended to the side of each of corresponding manifolds 9, 9', and these branch pipes (10-1, 10-2), (10'-2, 10'- 3) are intersected in the vertical direction in introduction parts 10c, 10'c. Each introduction part 10c of the branch pipes 10-1-10-3 branching from the one manifold 9 and each opening and 10'b of the branch pipes 10'-1-10'-3 branching from the other manifold 9' and the other each introduction part 10'c and each opening end 10b are respectively arranged alternately.
