Apparatus for shampooing rugs comprises a container 27 from which shampoo liquid flows through a manually operated valve 36 to a chamber 86 from which it flows through openings 88, 89 on to the ribbed upper surfaces of arcuate plates 78, 79 which are engaged by the bristles of a pair of brushes 19, 20 rotated about vertical axes. The shampoo liquid on the plates 78, 79 is foamed by the bristles 21 and deposited on the rug to be scrubbed into the latter by the brushes 19, 20. The foam generating assembly comprising the chamber 86 and the plates 78, 79 may be detachable from the machine which may then be employed as a floor polishing machine.</p> |
