Gas is sepd. from a gaseous mixt. by passing the feed mixt. to>=2 permeator stages in series. Each permeator stage comprises a selective separation membrane and has a lower total pressure at the exit side than at the feed side. The non-permeating gas from the one permeator is passed to the feed side of the next permeator. Each permeator has a higher pressure drop, in proportion to its feed pressure, than an earlier permeator. Process is used e.g. for recovering H2 for recycling to an ammonia synthesis reactor. |
