PURPOSE:To prevent malfunction and to improve the reliability of a retrieval device, by correctly detecting a mark irrespective of the variation of a quantity of illumination light, kind of information supporting body, and size of mark, and correctly detecting desired information. CONSTITUTION:When a retrieval number is inputted into an input device, the inputted retrieval number is stored in the register of a CPU26. The CPU26 counts signals outputted from the Q-output terminal of a flip flop F2 at its counting section and compares the counted content of the counting section with the retrieval number stored in the register. When both counted content and retrieval number coincide with each other, the CPU26 outputs a stop signal and, when both do not coincide, the CPU26 outputs a driving signal. A motor driving circuit 27 feeds a film toward a prescribed direction, and stops the film by stopping the motor driving upon receiving the stop signal when receiving the driving signal from the CPU26. As a result, a mark is surely detected irrespective of the size of the mark, desired information can be retrieved correctly, malfunction is prevented, and thus, the reliability of this device can be improved. |
