The method of recovering the leaves and collars of tubers e.g. beetroot in leaf-thinning and cutting machinery, requires that the leaves and collars are cut and recovered separately. They are then projected separately into an evacuation trough by two rotors rotating in opposite directions to each other and each having different functions. - The apparatus comprises a housing in which the first leaf-cutting rotor is fitted together with a scalping knife associated with a feeler and an evacuation trough. The trough is provided with an endless screw. A second rotor is associated with the feeler and the knife and rotates in the opposite direction to the first rotor. Hence it projects the separately cut collars to the evacuation trough.(0/2)
