The anti-theft device can be used by itself, combined with an article it is designed to protect, or combined with the mechanism of the article being protected. The anti-theft device attaches the protected article to the inside of a pocket, in a brief-case etc. - The device has two sections which pivot on axes (A,A') and retract so that they stick to the container sides. The two sections (B,B') emerge from the ink-container tube when the pen is moved, and can be re-inserted by means of a protuberance on the tube.
