PURPOSE:To achieve an excellent printing with limited power consumption by forming a wear resistant layer broad on both sides of a heat generating resistor instead of on the surface thereof to bring the heat generating resistor into direct contact with a thermosensitive paper without passing through the wear resistant layer when a prnting is performed. CONSTITUTION:A thick wear resistant layer 5 is formed on both sides of a heat generating resistor 4, while a wear resistant layer 5 of the same thickness is formed on the surface thereof 4. Then, the wear resistant layer 5 on the surface of the heat generating resistor 4 is ground and the operation is stopped when the surface of the heat generating resistor 4 is exposed to form a thermal head. In the thermal head thus obtained, the heat generating resistor 4 is exposed and directly rubs with a heat-sensitive paper but the wear of the resistor 4 is not much because the wear resistant layer 5 provids a guard in the lateral for the heat generating resistor 4. When printing, heat generated from the heat generating resistor 4 is transmitted directly to the thermosensitive paper and thus, the power consumption is expected to be reduced by more than 20%. |
