The umbrella has a handle, a stem and a slider for operating roof struts hinged to a crown. A rod (11) connected to the slider (5) is guided in a longitudinally movable manner in the interior of the stem (1). The lower end (13) of the rod (11) is in operative connection with the bent handle (8). For its part, the handle is pivotably fastened to the lower end of the stem (1), a pivoting movement of the handle causing a corresponding lifting movement of the rod. This umbrella can be opened or closed in a simple manner by turning the handle up or down. <IMAGE>
