PURPOSE:To uniformly diffuse the radiation heat generated from a number of linear cathodes and prevent the combustible contraction of a vacuum glass container by forming a metal coat or opaque conductive coat on a part of the vacuum glass container and using the coat as a rear electrode. CONSTITUTION:A rear electrode is formed by vacuum evaporating an opaque metal coat such as Al or Ni on the inner surface of a glass container 41 by approximately 2,000-3,000Angstrom thickness. It is also formed by vacuum evaporating an opaque conductive coat. As a result, even while the captioned unit is in operation, the radiation heat generated from a number of linear cathodes can uniformly be diffused through a metal coat or opaque conductive coat and the combustible contraction of the container can be prevented. In addition, the weight reduction of the unit can be achieved by using the surface of the glass container as the rear electrode and the device can economically be manufactured without using a glass plate as the rear electrode. |
