PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF N-ALKYLATED AMINOALCOHOL

Title compds. (I; Ar = unsubstituted or hydroxy-substituted aromatic group; AlK = C2-5 alkylene; n = 0-1), useful as-sympathomimetics, were prepd. by the reaction of II (X1 = hydroxyl; Z1 = halogen, -O-SO2-R; R = hydroxy) and III(Z2 = amino group). Thus, 5.0 g 6-(2-bromoethoxy)-salicylamide and 13.0 g α-(aminomethyl)-benzylalcohol were stirred at 130oC for 1 hr, to give I(m.p. 122-124oC).
