The production of fire-resistant thermoplastic mixtures and more particularly the manufacture of sheaths for fire-resistant electrical cables. The process consists essentially in grafting an organism onto a part at least of the polymer before the addition of aluminahydrate, the said grafting process being known per se, the mixture thus obtained exhibiting satisfactory physical and chemical properties without requiring crosslinking. Application to any polymer, for example EPDM, EPR, EVA.
