PURPOSE:To obtain a thin metallic film type magnetic recording medium which has excellent wear resistance and still resistance and does not damage a magnetic head by constituting minute ruggedness on the surface on the magnetic recording surface side of a magnetic recording medium and interposing a lubricant in the gaps between the processing parts and recesses thereof. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recording layer 2 of a ferromagnetic thin metallic film is formed on a non-magnetic base 1 and thereafter a metal such as Cr, Zr or the like or a non-magnetic material such as Al2O3, TiO2, SiC or the like is lightly deposited by evaporation on the surface of the layer 2 to constitute the micro ruggedness in an island-shaped structure 3 or a network structure having the linked islands at several tens - several hundreds Angstrom height. A lubricant 4 such as silicone oil, fluorine compd., mineral oil or the like is interposed by a method for coating, spraying, etc. in the recesses of said ruggedness. A magnetic disc, magnetic tape or the like having improved wear resistance and still resistance and excellent durability is thus obtd. |
