The invention relates to a fully automatic octave key mechanism for wind instruments, in particular oboes. The mechanism consists of the bridging rod which is actuated by the g-key, is in contact via the octave stopper with the free end of the octave key cover holder which is mounted in the manner of a rocker, and holds the key cover situated on the other end of the octave key cover holder in the closed position in the rest position of the g-key against the action of a spring. The mechanism also comprises the octave lifter which in its rest position holds both octave keys in their closed position via rods. The invention is characterised in that the blocking of both octave keys I and II in their closed position by the octave lifter takes place via a single bridge which is fastened on an arm connected to the lifter rod and can be raised and lowered with this arm on actuation of the octave lifter and covers and holds down the octave keys I and II in the rest position of the octave lifter. <IMAGE>
