The invention relates to a prefabricated cup housing, especially for cup-type capacitors, and to a cup housing which is closed by a closure plug, as well as to a closure method which is suitable for this purpose. In the case of known cup housings, especially miniature electrolytic capacitors, it was not possible to subject the closure plug to any excessively large internal pressure stress. The normally known subsequent formation of a rim or indentation of a beading cannot, however, be implemented in the case of a suitable cup housing, especially in terms of aspects relating to mass production with very short assembly times. For this reason, a cup housing having a preformed bead indentation was created which, in terms of the method, is constructed by axial material upsetting to form a retaining bead of the closure plug, the compression and holding forces of the closure plug being further reinforced by the reduction in diameter of the expansion of the cup housing provided in the opening region.
