发明名称 METHOD OF MEASURING TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION ON TOOL FLANK
摘要 PURPOSE:To make possible to measure the temperature of the flank of a cutting tool during cutting, by embedding a thin metal wire which constitutes thermocouples in contact with the top of the cutting tool in a hole formed in the surface of a material to be cut, in such a condition that the thin metal wire is insulated from the tool to measure the contact sections of the thin metal wire and the tool tip with the use of the thermocouples. CONSTITUTION:When a tool 5 cuts the surface 2 of a material to be cut in which a thin metal wire 10 is embedded, the thin metal wire 10 is cut by the tip 6 of the tool 5, and the cut face of the metal wire is relatively moved on the surface 2 from the one end to the other end thereof while it is made into contact with the flank of the tool 7. Accordingly, the tool 5 and the thin metal wire 10 constitute thermocouples in contact with each other. Further, during the continuous operation of cutting by means of the tool, the contact position between the tip of the tool and the thin metal wire is successively moved, and therefore, the temperature of the tool flank 7 at the contact position is detected. A recorder 12 records the output of the thermocouples during the above-mentioned operation, and therefore, a temperature distribution on the tool flank 7 may be measured.
