The invention relates to a vertical adjustment device on a rigid cover (1) which can be swivelled by means of a hinge arrangement (3) out of a vehicle roof (19), the cover (1) being connected via a screw connection (25) to the movable hinge upper part (3a). In order, in comparison with a known vertical adjustment device, to achieve an easier and more precise adjustment of the cover (1) in a shorter time, it is proposed to design the region of the screw connection (25) above the hinge upper part (3a) and its region below the hinge upper part in each case as an independent ball-and-socket joint (29, 10; 27, 28). <IMAGE>
