System for changing the tyre pressure in motor vehicles

In a system for changing the tyre pressure in vehicles, an electromagnetic switching valve is connected between a supply line for the compressed air source and a supply line to a compressed air-controlled valve on the vehicle wheel, which switching valve has, in contrast to the prior art, only two switch positions. The supply line is vented in the position of rest of the switching valve but in the working position it is connected to the supply line. Whether the tyre pressure is increased or lowered depends on the position of a shut-off valve which is connected to the supply line and downstream of which a pressure-limiting valve is connected. The system is also extremely well suited for controlling the tyre pressure as a function of different parameters and permits unacceptable conditions to be indicated to the driver.
