The machine for picking up, collecting, shaping and pressing agricultural crops, such as, in particular, hay and straw, into approximately cylindrical rolled bales comprises a machine frame movable over the ground and supported on the ground by running wheels, a material pick-up device, two approximately cylindrical chambers with a horizontal centre axis and a preferably at least approximately constant chamber volume, a device for conveying and pressing crop supplied from a chamber, a tying device and a discharge device for finished tied rolled bales. For continuous operation, the two chambers in this case are assigned, at least approximately vertically one above the other, to a common machine housing which is pivotable through approximately 180 DEG about a horizontal centre axis. As a result, the chambers can be transferred alternately from a lower material-feeding position into an upper tying position, and vice versa, and the two chambers, which can be fed with crop alternately, can each be operated independently until the conclusion of the pressing, tying and discharge of a rolled bale.
