A motor-driven abrasive belt for the working of regions of the surface of profiled parts (1), e.g. railway rails, is described. Guide parts (6a and b) are connected to the abrasive belt at its two ends, the said guide parts having guide faces (6a' and 6b') which are mounted on a profiled part (1) and form a plane with the working face (5a) of the abrasive belt. Fastened to the profiled part (1) are mountings (3a and b) for the abrasive belt (5) which are connected to the guide parts (6a and b) in such a way that the abrasive belt (5), together with the guide parts (6a and b), can be tilted and moved perpendicularly to the plane of the abrasive belt (5). <IMAGE>
