PURPOSE:To enable manufacture of a polychromic volume hologram by one exposure from a laser light source by coating multilayer photosensitive materials having different variation of thickness at the time of developing. CONSTITUTION:A dry plate 3 is manufactured by coating photosensitive materials 2a, 2b different in change of thickness at the time of developing on a glass base plate. When laser beams 4a, 4b of wavelength lambdao are irradiated simultaneously on the dry plate 3, interference fringe caused by the two laser beams 4a, 4b is recorded on the photosensitive materials 2a, 2b. When thus exposed dry plate 3 is developed, distribution of refractive index or distribution of density corresponding to the position of the interference fringe is formed in the photosensitive materials 2a, 2b. The thickness 6a of the photosensitive material 2a is changed to thickness 7a and the thickness 6b of photosensitive material 2b is changed to 7b by developing. Distribution of refractive index or distribution of density formed by the interference fringe is enlarged or reduced in the direction of thickness according to the change of thickness, and regenerated wavelength is also changed. |
