PURPOSE:To make it possible to automatically operate an exhaust brake in accordance with the angle of inclination upon descending of a vehicle to make control operation convenient, by associating an exhaust gas shut-off valve with a rotatable weight provided with a gear in order to always maintain the vertical position of the exhaust gas shut-off valve. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust gas shut-off valve 3 which is rotatable around a shaft 4 fixed with a gear 5, is disposed in an exhaust pipe 1, and as well, a weight 6 is suspended from a shaft 8 fixed to an attaching plate 9 with the gear 5 being meshed with an upper gear 7. Upon descending of a vehicle, when the weight 6 is rotated in association with the inclination of the vehicle to be held in its vertical position, the exhaust gas shut-off valve is rotated through the gears 7, 5 to close the exhaust pipe to a predetermined opening degree, thereby exhaust brake is made effective to brake the vehicle. |
