PURPOSE:To improve distance measuring accuracy by effectively combining a high distance measuring accuracy in an ultrasonic system and the advantage of measuring distance at remote points in an optical system. CONSTITUTION:The operation flow is such that ultrasonic distance measurement is put into operation in priority and automatically switched over to optical distance measurement when the distance information exceeds the limit distance to the ultrasonic distance measurement. When a starting signal as shown in the drawing (a) is applied at the timing of T1 from an external input terminal 14a connected to an external circuit, a starting circuit 14 starts operation and provides an operation signal as shown in the drawing (b) to an ultrasonic distance measuring means 13 to put it into operation. When the distance of an object 6'' is shorter than the measurable distance by the ultrasonic system, a time signal corresponding to the distance of about 29ms of the object as shown in the drawing (c) is memorized into the ultrasonic distance measuring means 13. On the other hand, when the distance of the object is longer than the measurable distance of the ultrasonic distance measuring means 13, a time signal for the distance of about 47ms as shown by the dotted line is memorized into the ultrasonic distance measuring means 13. |
