PURPOSE:A dispersion type viscosity builder having improved stringing and viscosity increasing properties, obtained by polymerizing a monomer mixture consisting of a specific amount of (meth)acrylate, a specific amount of (meth)acrylamide and a specific amount of methyl acrylate in a specified amount of an aqueous solution of polyethylene glycol. CONSTITUTION:A monomer mixture consisting of 35-48wt% monomer (e.g., sodium acrylate, etc.) shown by the formula (R is H, or methyl; X is alkali metal, or ammonium), 35-48wt% (meth)acrylamide, 5-20wt% methyl acrylate or ethyl acrylate, and 0-25wt% hydrophilic monomer (e.g., hydroxyethyl acrylate, etc.) is polymerized in the presence of 20-120pts.wt. polyethylene glycol based on 100pts.wt. mixture in an aqueous solution, to give the desired dispersion type viscosity builder. |
