The anemometer consists of a paddle-wheel 10 carried by a shaft 12 and a capacitive sensor 25. The input mechanism 18 to the sensor is coupled to the shaft 12 by an eddy current coupler 13, 14 whose driving element 13, formed by a disc, is attached to the shaft 12. The driven element 14 is returned to a rest position by a torsion bar 20 providing a restoring torque proportional to the deflection. <IMAGE>
