Two superposed fibrous fleeces which contain randomly arranged natural artificial or synthetic fibres at least 2 mm. long are laminated together by drawing therethrough by means of locally confined air currents of circular crosssection, using for example a perforated plate, a foamable binding agent. One of the fleeces may be consolidated by a binding agent, which may act to consolidate the other fleece. The binding agent may be drawn through the unconsolidated fleece to the consolidated fleece or vice versa or may be diffused from one fleece to the other. The binding agents and foams may be aqueous dispersions of synthetic resins or other polymers. In an example the fluffy side of a fleece, which has been rendered waterrepellent on its smooth face by spraying with phenylmethylpolysiloxane is bonded to a fibrous fleece during its consolidation. The laminate formed is dried.</p> |
