PURPOSE:To prepare the titled resin having excellent surface slippery, abrasion resistance and surface gloss, etc., by adding a liquid polyorganosiloxane in the course of polymerization of a monovinyl aromatic compound in the presence of a rubber substance, and completing the polymerization reaction. CONSTITUTION:2-20pts.wt. of a rubbery substance such as polybutadiene, SBR, etc. essentially devoid of crosslink is dissolved uniformly in 100pts.wt. of a monovinyl aromatic compound [e.g. (alpha-methyl)styrene], and preliminarily polymerized under heating or in the presence of a polymerization initiator at a rate of conversion of 2-10wt%/hr. When the phase-separation begins in the polymerization reaction solution, 0.2-10pts.wt of a polyorganosiloxane of formula [R is (halo)alkyl, (halo)aryl or aralkyl; R' and R'' are 1-6C alkyl or phenyl; m is integer] having a viscosity of 500-30,000cst at 25 deg.C is added to the solution, and the mixture is subjected to the bulk or suspension polymerization to obtain the objective resin. |
