PURPOSE:To obtain a ceramic sealing cover without being stained by an electrolyte by forming a metallized layer on the junction surface of a ceramic body with a mixture of titanium and activated metal, in a terminal sealing device for sealing a pole by making use of the ceramic body as a battery jar. CONSTITUTION:A mixture obtained by mixing titanium hydroxide and nickel powder in the ratio of 5:95-20:80 is made a pasty substance with a viscous agent such as PVA, and said substance is applied on the upper and lower surfaces of an annular ceramic body 4. Thereafter, the applied ceramic body is calcined at about 1,000 deg.C in vacuum or in the environment of oxygen de-gassed inactive gas, and further said calcined part is subjected to nickel plating, allowing metallized layers 5, 5 to be formed. A brazing agent for nickel, gold, or silver, etc., is applied onto the surfaces of the metallized layers 5, 5, and the upper surface of the battery jar 1 and the flange-shaped part 7 of a terminal pole 2 are joined together in liquid and air tightness via the brazed part 6 already brazed at 1,000-1,200 deg.C. |
