PURPOSE:To obtain transparent quartz glass producing no bubbles in treatment at a high temp. by a sol-gel method by holding dried gel at a specified temp. for a fixed time during heating in a stage for sintering the gel. CONSTITUTION:Alkyl silicate is mixed with fine powdered silica, etc. to prepare silica sol. The silica sol is converted into gel by heat treatment or other method, and the gel is dried. In a stage for sintering the dried gel, the gel is held at a specified temp. for a fixed time before it attains the maximum sintering temp., and the gel is heated again and sintered. By this method transparent glass causing no change in treatment at a high temp. can be manufactured. |
