The device measures volumes of liquids, particularly for delivering predetermined amounts of water in espresso coffee machines. It consists of a wheel with blades 14 placed in the path taken by the water and driven in rotation by it. One or more built-on magnetic components 28, 30 move with the wheel 14. At least one proximity detector 52 is fixed in such a way as to detect the passage of the built-on components 28, 30 and to send pulses to a central processing unit which counts the pulses and controls the amount of liquid. The proximity detector is based on the Hall effect. Usable especially in espresso coffee-making machines. <IMAGE>
