A pair of pipes disposed end to end can be connected by an elastic sealing sleeve about both the ends. A clamping collar A is provided to clamp the sleeve. The collar has a ring-shaped part 1 with an opening 2 to either side of which are flanges 3 pulled together by bolts B to make the collar grip the sleeve. The ring-shaped part is corrosion resistant due to the part 1 and flanges 3 being formed by a thinnish outer coating of a rubber moulded entirely over a ring-shaped reinforcement with integral flanges. This reinforcement can be of ordinary steel. Inside the collar the opening 2 is covered by a saddle-plate 13 of low friction plastics with a flange 14 between flanges 3.
