The tarpaulin bows are particularly suitable for vehicles with tipping platforms. Bulk materials such as hot tar, mortar inter alia, which are to be covered are frequently transported by said vehicles. When loading said vehicles (in particular from silos), the entire vehicle floor must be free of struts or bows. When unloading, the bows may be left (using the cable pulls) at different heights above the load. As a result, it is possible to open one side in order to tip or shovel out the load (unobstructed by the bows). Using the rod, the bows may be completely folded away (in just a few seconds), or after loading may be pulled over the load on the vehicle floor.
