Half mask in to and fro respiration

Half masks are used in escape filter equipment. In emergencies even untrained individuals must be capable of putting them on properly, the breathing filters must be used to a maximum and the dead space for the breathing air moved in to and fro respiration must be minimal. In the half mask according to the invention the sealing lips of the mask body which form a breathing air channel on the face of the mask wearer are extended to reach up to the breathing air inlet opening and are tightly connected to this opening. The breathing air channel rests tightly against the face so as to form the minimal dead space for the air breathed to and fro. The void space which forms between the envelope surface of the half mask and the breathing air channel is connected with the environment via one or more pore-like openings for the purpose of pressure equalization. However, these prevent the breathing air channel and hence the dead space from participating in the respiration during the individual inspirations.
