The invention relates to a process for obtaining a specific final weight of a quantity consisting of a plurality of individual articles, the weight of the individual articles being measured separately and those individual articles, the total weight of which approximates to the predetermined final weight, being combined with one another and subsequently unloaded. After the individual articles 5 have been separated, the weight of each individual article 5 is measured and stored, together with the position of the individual article 5, in the memory of a computer unit, and then, in the article delivery station 9, as many individual articles 5 are repetitively selected from the individual articles 5 of determined weight and position as are necessary to compose a part quantity of individual articles which is predetermined in terms of the final weight. This part quantity is then transferred to an article delivery device, and the individual articles 5 not yet delivered after passing through the article delivery station 9 are then fed again to the article feed device 7 for a subsequent separation of the individual articles 5. For carrying out this process, there is arranged in a machine stand 2 an endless rotating motor-drivable shell unit 3 which consists of a plurality of shells arranged parallel to one another and in succession and each intended for receiving an individual article 5. On the entry side, the shell unit 3 is assigned an article separation device 6 of the article feed device 7 and, after the article separation device 6 in the conveying direction, a weighing station 8. <IMAGE>
