On a ring spinning machine, roving bobbins are extracted automatically from a roving-bobbin carriage fed by the flier and are set up in the creel of the ring spinning machine by a service unit, especially a yarn-piecing unit, moving along the ring spinning machine. Devices, by means of which the roving bobbins are extracted from the roving-bobbin carriage, stored severally in the service unit and attached individually onto suspended holders in the creel of the ring spinning machine, are described.
