In the device, the base and swivel parts consist of three plates arranged at a distance one above another. These are a base plate (1), an intermediate plate (3) and a carrier plate (5). The base plate (1) is connected via a first joint (2) provided in the region of a longitudinal side to the intermediate plate (3) which is arranged thereabove, and for its part said intermediate plate is connected via a second joint (4) in the region of the longitudinal side located opposite the first joint (2) to the carrier plate (5) arranged thereabove. The intermediate and carrier plates (3, 5) can be jointly moved about the swivel axis of the first joint (2), and the carrier plate alone can be moved about the swivel axis of the second joint (4). The carrier plate (5) contains the object receptacle (8), the central axis of which coincides with the object axis. The positions of this central axis and of the swivel axes are arranged at the corner points of a right-angled triangle, the separation of the swivel axes forming the hypotenuse of the triangle. The swivel axes of the joints (2, 4), and the central axis of the object receptacle (8) are arranged offset with respect to one another in the horizontal and vertical directions. <IMAGE>
