摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent the variance of the total number of bytes of character codes when half-em characters are printed with a double density, by converting character codes of half-em characters to one-byte character codes and storing them in a code memory. CONSTITUTION:A microprocessor 1 discriminates between half-em characters and em characters of character data expressed with a two-byte character code and converts half-em characters to one-byte character codes to output them and outputs em characters as they are or converts em characters to another two-byte character codes to output them. The character code outputted from the processor 1 is stored in a code memory 2. A decoder 3 outputs the one-byte character code outputted from the memory 2 to a half-em character generator 4 and outputs the two-byte character code to an em character generator 5. Dot character patterns generated from generators 4 and 5 are stored in a pattern register 6. Thus, the total number of bytes of character codes stored in the memory is not changed, and consequently, the control of print or display is facilitated.
