1395651 Lyophilised blood products EI DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 1 Sept 1972 [3 Sept 1971] 40662/72 Heading A5B A homogeneous, lyophilised product of blood serum or plasma is produced by spraying droplets of the serum or plasma into a stirred, boiling fluorocarbon refrigerant at below -20‹C, collecting the frozen droplets thus formed and subjecting them to a vacuum at a temperature such that water is removed therefrom by sublimation. A substance, e.g. citric acid, which regulates the acid content of the final product may be added initially. The product is a free-flowing, particulate, porous solid having particles not exceeding 1mm in diameter, a "standard dissolution time" (defined) not greater than 2 minutes and a solid content by volume of up to 10%. |
