<p>PURPOSE:To utilize carbonaceous substance as a heat source in good efficiency and to prevent the oxidative loss of Cr in scrap by simultaneously performing carburizing and scrap melting after raising the temp. of a base metal in consideration of equilibrium relation of C-Cr-temp. CONSTITUTION:In charging lumpy carbonaceous substance in a melting furnace, upper addition is usually employed. In this case, as a condition for melting Cr- containing scrap, it is important that melting is advanced in a preferential decarburizing region on the basis of equilibrium relation of C-Cr-temp. That is, as shown by a pattern A, scrap is charged directly after the lumpy carbon substance is added after the temp. of a base metal being a seed molten metal is raised and sufficiently immersed in molten steel to perform melting.</p> |
