Sleeve for rigid coupling of two shaft ends

The eccentric, or conical, bore in the coupling sleeve (4) enables the sleeve to be fitted loosely over the motor shaft (9) and then centralised when the shaft end fits into the bottom of the bore. The bore shape enables a locating spring to be accurately set in the shaft groove (8) to provide a flexible coupling. The sleeve enables a pump or other equipment to be aligned with a motor drive shaft without any lateral strain. The sleeve allows some degree of flexibility and gives a prolonged service life.
