The subject of the invention is an automatic machine for producing toroidal coils, especially coils having a large number of windings, on toroidal supports of small internal diameter, the said machine being characterised in that it comprises means for holding the toroidal support 1 to be wound while rotatably driving it around its axis, means 2 for storing all the wire 8 to be wound and the overall dimensions of which permit their free passage inside the toroidal support 1, means 3, 10, 12, 13 for moving the said wire-storage means 2 along a closed-loop path passing inside the toroidal support and means for synchronising the rotation of the toroidal support 1 and the rate at which the said wire-storage means 2 pass inside the said support.
