Device intended to carry out, in a repetitive manner, the same operation on a continuously running strip, by means of a tool 18 and of a counter-tool 19 disposed on either side of the said strip. According to the invention, this device is characterised in that the said tool 18 and the said counter-tool 19 are connected to each other by guidance means 10, allowing them relative movements orthogonal to the said strip while forcing them to maintain a fixed relative position parallel to the latter, and they are driven with a motion of curved translation along two closed paths which are symmetrical to one another with respect to the said strip, these paths having two portions which are parallel or at least tangential to the strip and close to the latter, for which portions the tool and the counter-tool cooperate in order to perform the said operation and are driven in the same direction and at least approximately at the same speed as the said strip.
