The apparatus of the invention comprises a control unit 20 constituted by a set of identical control circuits associated respectively with identical parts of a manual control and display panel for controlling, via each part, the various functions and sending out corresponding logic control signals towards selection and transfer unit function matrices 21, 22, a function mode control unit 23 linked to at least one selection and transfer unit for generating mode logic control signals, and an output interface 24 for transmitting, over distance, the function mode and function logic control signals in the form of electrical signals in a multi-core cable or light signals in an optical fibre. <IMAGE>
