Silage fodder block cutter is guided by a boom or template bearer and consists of a vertical knife shaft (6) or rotary cutter and a horizontal circular saw (15) releasably fitted to this shaft below. The cutters (6,15) can be swivelled round from a first setting through 90 deg. into second setting, where they can excise blocks or slices of fodder from stacked silage or blocks. The cutter produces smooth surfaces all round the block or slice and at the same time crushes the fodder blocks removed. The smooth cut surfaces prevent secondary fermentation of the silage and also assist when it comes to excising further slices or blocks from this.
