The invention relates to a chuck key head comprising a plurality of jaws 2 to 5, the active faces 2a to 5a of which are placed along the sides of a regular polygon corresponding to the head of the member to be manoeuvred. These jaws are mounted so as to slide radially in a plate 1 for transmitting the manoeuvring force. Each one of the jaws has a driving section 2c, 5c for its sliding in the plate 1 which cooperates with a square surface 6c, in the form of a spiral whose rotation about an axis 9 perpendicular to its plane gives rise to an identical radial sliding for each jaw.
