In order to keep the curtain in bath and shower rooms away from the person taking a shower, an additional fitting is provided. The latter is formed by a spacer (7) which is pivotable in a bearing housing (15'), rests against the curtain (4) in the position of use, and prevents said curtain from coming near to and touching the person taking a shower. The spacer (7) can be a rod-like element (20'), a telescopic tube (20) or a curved rod. <IMAGE>
