Device for driving the shuttle by means of the shed (6) of a weaving machine. This is achieved by means of a piston cylinder (18) which is connected via a step-up lever (24) and an articulated arm (26) to a shuttle driver (28) provided for throwing the shuttle (8) forwards. The piston cylinder (18) is mounted on the lever (24) in such a way that a step-up between its speed and that of the shuttle driver (28) for throwing the shuttle (8) forwards at the desired speed is achieved. <IMAGE>
