The perpendicular and substantially cylindrical container wall of a silo for fodder consists of prefabricated shell-like wall parts which are provided, at their edges, with stiffening profiles and are screwed to one another by their vertically extending straight edge profiles. The cylindrical container part is provided with a covering cap, with a feed opening in its upper region and with a plurality of discharge openings. To be able to manufacture the container economically from prefabricated parts in sizes corresponding to the usual requirements, the container wall is constructed from a sufficiently large number of shells, curved in the shape of a sector arc and having straight generating lines whose length corresponds to the container height, that in addition to the container with a circumferential line whose radius corresponds to the radius of curvature of the shells, containers with larger and optionally smaller diameters, whose circumferential lines differ insignificantly from a circular line, can be manufactured by adding or optionally also omitting at least one shell. The straight edge profiles are screwed to a profile girder.
