The grip, which is provided in particular as a supporting grip for vehicles, consists of a grip body (1) which is coupled at both ends to bearing blocks (5) and can be moved out of an out-of-use position resting closely against a mounting surface (4) into a position of use in which it stands away from the mounting surface. The grip body (1) is of stirrup-shaped construction and coupled in a reversible fashion to the bearing blocks (5), and on at least one bearing block (5) and/or at at least one leg end of the grip body (1) a catch (12) which holds the latter in the out-of-use position is arranged. <IMAGE>
